Delhi - The Ageless & Timeless Beauty

Top Offbeat Tourist Places to Visit in Delhi

Delhi Tourism

You call it Delhi or Dilli it’s undoubtedly ‘Dilwaalo Ki Dilli’. The happening capital of India with an offbeat combination of ‘Old Delhi’, the queen of mystic beauty, and New Delhi, the charming Romeo with contemporary aura. Be it history, royalty, bone-chilling spots, or untold stories we Dilliwalahs have it all.

The basics thing you do before travel is research. But, don’t you feel the ongoing monotony while searching ‘Best/Top place to visit in Delhi’ only pops up with India Gate, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, Red Fort, and many other too much-known spots? Even in the name of ‘Dilli Darshan’ you take people to the above-mentioned places because that’s the year-old tradition followed by our families.

So let’s try to change Delhi’s itinerary and update the mundane Delhi Darshan spots.

Unusual Museums: Until I bunked my college and went to Sulabh International Museum I didn’t know that Delhi had an awesome and rare collection of jaunt worthy facts and objects that unravel the evolution of toilets dated back from 2500 BC to the present. This rare museum came into being in 1992 that homes the countless exhibits from over 50 nations. This museum also speaks about social habits and toilet etiquettes that has been evolving since ages. Don't you want to know how our ancestors relaxed their tummies with the changing times?

We’ve been to Rail Museum but have we ever bothered to visit Crafts Museum that’s just a few minutes away from the Rail Museum? No, I believe. A unique museum that helps you to take a peaceful walk through the typical Indian village that existed decades ago. A soothing place that accommodates mud huts with traditional tribal painted walls, terracotta horses, and other priceless artifacts that were seen in Indian villages. It also exhibits a vast and awestruck collection of jewels, terracotta models, wooden, stone and ivory carvings, puppets, and many more countless beauties. If you need a break from the busy streets of the existing concrete jungle, just take a day off to this rural and peaceful space.

The Waste to Wonder Park: When our Delhi has ‘The Waste to Wonder Park’, then why to travel abroad to get an Insta perfect click? And you read it right its WASTE TO WONDER; while the world was busy propagating about the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) the mighty capital just did it practically. This unusual theme park exhibits the 7 wonders of the world - Taj Mahal, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Great Pyramid, Eiffel Tower, Christ the Redeemer statue, the Statue of Liberty of the and Rome's Colosseum made of waste materials like scrap metal, discarded auto parts, procured from the landfills in Delhi. How to transform waste into wealth just learn from us.

The stretch between Khanna Market and Meherchand Market will surely make your Instagram likes to go nuts. Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah: A simple yet charming mausoleum of one of the most famous Sufi saints, Hazrat Khwaja Syed Nizamuddin Auliya (1238 – 1325 CE). Hujra-e-Qadeem is one of the star attractions there, a room that holds the mystic beauty of the 13th-century. Moreover, the Dargah also houses the tombs of Amir Khusrau, a great Urdu and Persian poet, Jahanara Begum (Shah Jahan’s daughter), Muhammad Shah Rangila, a ruler of the 18th century. Adding to its mystic beauty is the irresistible qawwalis that are performed in the evenings. The peace you get here is different from the worldly pleasures, I guarantee.
